Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the venerable Wentworth-Gardner House. Located on the river in the historic South End, it stands proudly as a neighborhood asset. Considered one of the most architecturally significant Georgian homes in America, lived in by prominent New England families, owned at one time by the Metropolitan Museum of art and now by a small local non- profit. On its site, sits one of only three remaining 18th century warehouses on the Seacoast.
Included in the tour will be a special visit to the historic Tobias Lear House recently sold and restored by a private individual. It now operates as a uniquely beautiful B&B with state-of-the-art modern amenities alongside fine antique furnishings. Cider and cookies will be available in the warehouse following the tour.
Carpooling is encouraged. There are some marked parking spaces on Mechanics St. directly across from the houses. Street parking is available as well as parking on Peirce Island. Feel free to drop off attendees, then park. Hosted by the East Cluster, all members and their guests are welcome.
