Join entertaining and informative presenter Laura Brown, as she discusses raising oysters, the business of farming and her role in helping to restore the native reefs. Laura founded Fox Point Oysters, a two-acre oyster farm, in 2012 in Little Bay, NH. The farm is a unique and important ecosystem perfectly suited for growing oysters, and serves not only to raise a healthy food source, but also to educate the public to the important role of oysters in the bay, to partner with scientists exploring oysters and their habits, and to help restore native oyster reefs in Great Bay.
About the Presenter
Laura Brown is an artist-cum-oyster farmer who began her farming career as a non-appreciator of seafood with the founding of Fox Point Oysters (easily seen from Deb Masse's deck). Now in her thirteenth year of farming, Laura continues to be amazed at the unique qualities of the oyster. She feels that it’s important to share her knowledge, experience and love of the bay with others. and has become an educator as well as an entrepreneur.
