The Shoals Marine Laboratory (SML) is the only marine laboratory in the US that is solely devoted to undergraduate education and research. SML is jointly operated Cornell University and the University of New Hampshire. Through beautiful photos, Dr. Sara Morris will share information about the history of Appledore Island, the Shoals Marine Lab, its educational and research programs, sustainability efforts, their public programs, and opportunities to visit this remote and picturesque island.

 

Our speaker, Sara Morris, is Executive Director of the Shoals Marine Laboratory based on Appledore Island among the Isles of Shoals. Dr. Morris was appointed Executive Director of SML about a year ago and has been associated with SML for many years. Since 1990, Dr. Morris was Director of the Appledore Island Migration Station which conducts bird banding and data collection.
