Will to Live: Learning from Shakespeare How to Be—and NOT to Be is the title of Seacoast Village member Georgeann Murphy’s new book offering five comedies and five tragedies as useful guides to understanding ourselves and others. Come for a reading and discussion of the practical humanism in plays reflecting life challenges we all face.
About the Presenter
Professor Murphy taught drama and English literature, humanities, and her specialty, Shakespeare, for 43 years, first at Tulane University where she earned her Ph.D.; at Centre College of Kentucky where she directed, acted, and initiated the Centre-in-London Program at Regents College; and finally at UNH in Durham where she joined her late husband on the faculty in 1995 and from which she retired in 2020. She remains dedicated to keeping challenging texts understood and valued in and out of the classroom.
